Cherrie,
I'm so sorry for the loss of your mother. This has to be such a difficult thing to go through, and I'm sure there is part of you that feels it won't be settled until the men who did this are in prison. Be gentle on yourself and know that there are people out here praying for you and your family.
God Bless,
Rodney

Thanks for the Graphic! You did make me smile....I appreciate you very much!!! I am so sorry that your mother was taken from this earth in such a tramatic way! It is hard enough to lose our parents...without something like that happening! It has been 7 months since mom has been gone...and it hasn't gotten any easier. We miss her so much! Will this ever get any easier?

Profile Information

About Me:
I'm from the Chicago Land area i grew up in Roseland/Pullman which is in Chicago i have seven children and nine grandchildren.
Tell a little about the person lost...
One of the most important people in my life( My Mother) was murdered in her home on January 30th 2003.
This was on the front page of the Illinois Star.
Cherrie Rogers let out a huge sigh of relief when she finally got the phone call shed been waiting on for more than four years. It was the Sauk Village police calling to tell her they had arrested two men in connection with the murder of Rogers mother, Carmella Lipinski, on Jan. 30, 2003.
I just said to myself, Thank God.
Now we can all rest easy, Rogers recalled.
Rogers mother was hit with gunfire when multiple shots were fired into her Sauk Village home that January night four years ago. Lipinski, 68, was struck three times, once in the liver, another in her breast bone and a third bullet in her calf. Lipinski died 10 days later at St. James Hospital and Health Center in Olympia Fields. No arrests were made at the time.
Detective Tim Holevis took over the cold case in 2005 when he was made chief of detectives in Sauk Village. The police department was working new leads in the murder when an arrest in northern Wisconsin triggered a break in the case this summer.
Two Sauk Village men were taken into custody on a narcotics bust in Forest County, Wisc. in July. One of the men, Holevis said, told law enforcement officials that he had information on the Lipinski murder case.
He said he knew who the two shooters were, Holevis said. He said he was with them that night at a party he was at after the shooting.
The information from the suspect in the narcotics case also lead to retrieving the murder weapon, a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun, from the evidence room of a neighboring town of Sauk Village. Police declined to name that town.
It was recovered in a separate crime, Holevis said. Ballistics from the gun matched evidence taken from the Lipinski crime scene. That ballistics test on the gun was conducted by Sauk Village police after they developed their suspects from the Wisconsin tip.
Sauk Village police Detective Robert Grossman said he couldn't comment on why the gun wasn't tested by another law enforcement agency before Sauk Village came into possession of it, but his department tested it immediately upon getting the weapon.
Arrested on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm in the Lipinski case were Willie Starkes, 26, of Richton Park, and Gregory Quinn, 23, of Sauk Village.
Both were indicted on Aug. 7 and are in Cook County jail. The men are due for arraignment today in Sixth District Circuit Court in Markham.
Holevis said it appeared the suspects had an argument with another Lipinski family member on the day of the shooting.
The suspects obviously were not satisfied with the conversation so they indiscriminately fired eight or nine shots at the house, Holevis said.
Rogers said she had suspected both men were involved in the shooting ever since the day her mother was shot.
My first question was to ask if it was the guys I thought it was, she said. Detective Tim (Holevis) told me it was.
Rogers father, John Lipinski, doesn't talk much about the incident, but Rogers knows he was devastated by it.
My dads not a guy to show much emotion. He wants to appear strong. They would have been married 50 years last year.
She remembers her mother as an extremely generous person.
If you needed a buck, shed give it to you, even if it was her last one, Rogers recalled. She loved her kids and her grandkids. my mother. Rogers, who has taken an online course in criminal justice, did some investigation work herself trying to solve the case.
It mostly amounted to talking to people from the area. I lived there for 14 years and raised my kids in Sauk Village for a while, said Rogers, a mother of seven who now lives in Cedar Lake, In.
My kids took it hard. They cant even go by the Sauk Village house anymore. We were all at the hospital when she awoke from surgery. She saw us all there and just said the word water. Then she went back out and never awoke again. She died on one of my sons birthday.
Rogers said she plans to be at the Markham court throughout the trial. I' II be there with my oldest daughters most times. All of us will be there when the verdict is read.
Rogers added she is hoping for a sentence of life without parole for Stark's and Quinn.
The death penalty is too good for them. That would be too easy.
In Loving Memory Of Carmella Lipinski (A VICTIM OF A VIOLENT CRIME) Who Would Have Celebrated Her 73rd. Birthday On January 13th No words I write can ever say How much I miss you everyday. As time goes by, the loneliness grows; How I miss you, nobody knows! I think of you in silence, I often speak your name, No one knows my sorrow, No one sees me weep, But the love I have for you Is in my heart to keep. I've never stopped loving you- I'm sure I never will; Deep inside my heart, You are with me still. Heartaches in this world are many But mine is worse than any. My heart still aches as I whisper low, "I need you and I miss you so." The things we feel so deeply Are often the hardest to say, But I just can't keep quiet any more, So I'll tell you anyway. There is a place in my heart That no one else can fill; I love you so, my precious mother,CommentYou.com is your One Stop Shop
