About Me:
I am a born again Christian, wife, mother of 6, grandmother of 6 with more on the way. I believe that the Bible is the written Word of God. I believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation. I strongly support our troops ( I have 4 children who have or are serving in the armed forces).
Tell a little about the person lost...
Our youngest son, Claude, was serving in the US Army when he was found dead in his home on 16 Dec 2006. The incident is still under investigation at this time. He was killed by a gun but no gun was found at the scene. He was two months from leaving the Army life to start a new one at home. He had plans of going to college to study business management. He and his older brother were planning on starting a business together.

My youngest son, Claude

Thank you so much for your kind words. I have to say that the circumstances are not that different. I did say that my brother was shot and killed during a robbery but I did not mention that he had gone to a bad part of town to meet a drug dealer to purchase drugs. It turns out that the drug dealer set him up to be robbed by 2 guys, one who had escaped from jail a month earlier and had not been recaptured. Michael was sitting in his truck waiting with the doors locked, his seatbelt on, and the keys in the ignition. He let the passenger window down about halfway when the 2 robbers approached him and shot him in the chest and in the head. He lost his life for 160 dollars. They are now in prison and the guy who set him up was found shot, burned and dumped beside the road about 3 years later. I knew that my brother used drugs but I never once saw him under the influence of anything. I just never saw that side of him. Around me he was just Michael, kind, laid back, and funny. I miss him so much.
Thank you again for your response and for sharing your story and pictures of your son.
In loving memory of my brother Michael 12/10/72 - 9/18/03

Ann - the roller coaster ride never really ends. It slows right down and when you think it's safe,it starts right up again. Because we are getting used to feeling 'OK' this seems to be a set-back to us grieving parents. I always try to remember the last time I felt so bad and then realise that it's actually been ages. I guess we are all so good at wearing our 'masks' that we sometimes are surprised at what is underneath. I sat in a field the other day and howled my head off - I'm still not quite sure what it was that set me off but I sat for ages sobbing, missing my little girl and wishing there was a way to make it all different. But then I picked myself up and came home and something made me laugh on the way home with the dogs and everything was 'alright' again. And that is how it goes. I am so glad you have your faith to carry you through your dark days. My trust in the Lord to reunite me with my baby one day gets me through too. In the meantime, all we can do is to hold each other up when the going gets tough.
Sending you love and blessings always
Gail xx

Thank you. Honestly, I had a lot of anger about that and probably still do. But it helps to talk about it.

Dear Ann:
I'm very sorry that the investigation into your sons death has taken so long to resolve. I pray that the case will soon be closed, to give you peace of mind as to what may have happened.

Until then, know that you are loved beyond all measure and that our loving God does not burden our shoulders with more grief than we can humanly bear.

Blessings - lucretia

Ann, you have Chris pegged to a T. He was very mischievous. Looks like Claude could have had some of that also. He's a handsome young man in his uniform.

Ann,
Thanks for the kind words and comments on my site. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I see you are from Alamosa. I am assuming that it Alamosa CO. We moved to NM from Grand Junction. My wife and I went to High school in Montrose. If your not from Alamosa CO that probably won't mean much.
I know that it is only through faith in God and the thoughts and prayers of others that we survive such a thing as this.
Thanks again,
Rod
